The Illinois General Assembly has appropriated $14 million to the Illinois EPA for the current fiscal year (FY26), which ends on June 30, 2026. Actual funding amounts will be determined by the amount of money available in the Electric Vehicle Rebate Fund. Rebates will be issued to eligible individuals as funding is available.
Historically, this has been a popular program and Illinois EPA anticipates available funds being depleted before the close of the application window on January 31, 2026. Individuals are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible to increase the chance of receiving a rebate.
For more information and program requirements, visit the Illinois EPA's EV Rebate Program website..

If you missed the Climate Action Plan Open House on Dec 10 but would still like to participate, the Village-hired consultant has created a survey to collect additional data from folks unable to attend. It is linked here. Residents are always welcome to email sustainability@winnetka.org and contactcouncil@winnetka.org with thoughts on sustainability and other relevant issues for our Village.

Abundance is a book by American journalists and best-selling authors Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson. It stems from a 2021 Klein essay originally published in The New York Times and a 2022 Thompson essay originally published in The Atlantic.
Pulling from their respective strengths (political analysis for Klein, economic analysis for Thompson), the work seeks to create a new political lens through which to view the world that is grounded in abundance instead of scarcity and an optimistic vision for the future.
Go Green Reads is offered through a collaboration between Go Green Winnetka and Go Green Wilmette in partnership with The Book Stall and the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District.
