The Illinois General Assembly has appropriated $14 million to the Illinois EPA for the current fiscal year (FY26), which ends on June 30, 2026. Actual funding amounts will be determined by the amount of money available in the Electric Vehicle Rebate Fund. Rebates will be issued to eligible individuals as funding is available.
Historically, this has been a popular program and Illinois EPA anticipates available funds being depleted before the close of the application window on January 31, 2026. Individuals are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible to increase the chance of receiving a rebate.
For more information and program requirements, visit the Illinois EPA's EV Rebate Program website..

The Village of Winnetka invites all community members to attend the Climate Action Plan (CAP) Community Open House on Wednesday, December 10, from 7–8 pm at the Winnetka Police Station (410 Green Bay Rd).
We want to hear from residents, business owners, students, and anyone interested in Winnetka’s sustainable future about implementing the sustainability pillar of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan and advancing the Village’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions. The Village has already made investments in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, efficient LED lighting, solar energy and more. We are seeking community involvement in what additional actions are important to boost resiliency for future generations.
Attendees will learn about the objectives of Winnetka’s Climate Action Plan, review the latest greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory findings, and participate in an interactive input session designed to gather residents’ ideas and feedback.
This important meeting will take place at 7 pm at the Police Station Classroom (410 Green Bay Rd) due to construction at Village Hall. We hope to see you there! Please email us with any questions.

Abundance is a book by American journalists and best-selling authors Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson. It stems from a 2021 Klein essay originally published in The New York Times and a 2022 Thompson essay originally published in The Atlantic.
Pulling from their respective strengths (political analysis for Klein, economic analysis for Thompson), the work seeks to create a new political lens through which to view the world that is grounded in abundance instead of scarcity and an optimistic vision for the future.
